Nolan Dionne The folk scene in Western MA is like this:
When I was 19, I was visiting my ex-girlfriend at Mount Holyoke and we decided to take the bus into Northampton for dinner. At the bus stop in front of Hampshire, a man who looks suspiciously like Tim let me noodle on his Ellis A-style mandolin. It was the coolest thing ever to be included like that, even for a minute. This album is inclusive, intimate, and hugely enjoyable. Favorite track: Sugar Babe.

Asakiyume Mmm, two beautiful hymns (Pilgrim and Messiah), plus Sugar Baby, plus Pat Do This, plus Help Me Escape--those are the ones I listen to most, but the whole album is excellent.

about

This album features Molly and Maggie with Tim and Sasha and is one part oldtime fiddle tunes, one part shapenote tune arrangements, and one part oldtime singin' songs with some original songs thrown in the mix.

Thanks for listening to our music! We are three good friends who have been playing together for the past 10 years. We have lived together and lived in different parts of the country, and found ourselves fortuitously in the same town for a few months this summer. We decided to record an album, along with our friend Sasha Hsuczyk on fiddle. Our sound is rooted in old-time music from the American south and also influenced by shape note music, early country and bluegrass and a few other genres. All songs are traditional except where noted.
